Open Square is a software house with a passion (is there any other sort?).  In our case our passion came about because of disillusionment with the state of systems in the insurance industry.  We could see that so much more could be done with modern technology, but that insurers were hampered by legacy systems that hadn't moved with the times.

We didn't just want to provide a superficial fix to the situation; you know the sort of things - fancy front ends, gimmicky add-ons, etc.  Instead, we started with a clean sheet of paper and designed a core insurance system the way it should be.  What came out, Pact, is totally unlike anything you will ever have seen.  Even when we demo it today, we can't help but think it's drop-dead cool!

But, we also recognise that insurers are where they are, and that a great new system, however cool, is of no use if it can't complement what's in place already.  So we did something else too - we made all our technology into 'black box' components; discrete services that can be hooked into current systems with minimal fuss.
